Life After Baby – Further Education Is Possible
I have been seeing a lot of stay at home mom lately. And I’m thinking, is there a new reversal of women aspirations? Or new opportunities are arising that makes it possible for women who wants to personally take care of their children and still maintain a career?
The new crop of mom bloggers seem to be proving that second point. There is career life after baby, even when you choose to stay at home. But if blogging is not your forte, there are still other things you can do and prepare for. Have you, like me, gotten pregnant while trying to get a second degree? Or perhaps you’ve been thinking about it but haven’t had the time to actually make it happen?
I know you’ve heard about and seen ads for online education programs and you may have thought before, “hmmnnn, diploma mills?” But distance learning has been around for at least a decade. Guaranteed, there is an abundance of diploma mills and enrolling in one of those might as well equate your hard earned money being flushed down the toilet.
I have been on distance learning program via online courses from a community college and I could say that though there are benefits of campus education with personal and immediate interaction, from experience, online classes benefit those that are capable of time management and enjoy an environment where you’re able to fully research and articulate your answer and keep trackĀ of the conversation that has happened. This is one of the best things with being in an online classrom, you are able to go back and review the discussion that has transpired on a given session and really learn the lesson.
There is an excellent online resource called www.elearners.com which has very interesting articles and guides to online education. You an atke a test to determine the right course for you, be in the know which schools are just diploma mills, find a list of schools and learning centers offering online degrees and programs, become aware of important education laws and participate with an eLearners Advisor survey to determine if you are ready to undertake online courses. You have to understand that enrolling in an online campus means you are responsible for your time and schedule, unlike in a campus setting where is a fixed class and paper submissions time line.
